Daryl L. Hunt, former NFL linebacker, passed away on June 9, 2010 at the age of 53. The cause of death has been attributed to a heart attack.
Hunt has several noteworthy football accomplishments, including being the first African-American football player at Permian High School in Odessa, Texas; Permian is the high school that the television show “Friday Night Lights” is based at.
Hunt played for six seasons for the Houston Oilers and still holds the record for the ‘most tackles in a career’ , with 530, at the University of Oklahoma (1975-1978) and is regarded as one of the best OU football players of all time. He was an All-American in both 1977 and 1978.
Funeral services are currently being arranged by family.
