The messaging platform seems to be all set to roll out a new feature for established businesses to connect with their customers. WhatsApp has an active user base of around 200 Million in India and is now in line to change several traditional texts digitally.
Now, it seems that the online movie ticket booking service, BookMyShow, is one of the foremost businesses to sign for WhatsApp. The step, the completion of which will probably require few months, will assist BookMyShow and other firms create a more interactive connection with their users.
Earlier, the Facebook-owned instant messaging company declared that it is seeking for approaches to function with businesses in the coming period. Now, the initial signs for the same have floated up online. BookMyShow has declared that it has initiated functioning with WhatsApp and has sent a confirmation to the user for the tickets booked through WhatsApp.
As per the report by FactorDaily, one of the affirmations has been a post on Twitter that states, “We will use this chat to send your ticket confirmation. To stop receiving messages from us, please reply with ‘Stop’.”
BookMyShow is not the only business considered for the Business feature of WhatsApp. WhatsApp is said to be in discussions with the other firms such as OYO, Ola, and some airline companies to function together with the messaging platform.
Also, according to a report of the previous year, WhatsApp intends to function with Ola and Uber so that customers will receive notifications on the app itself in place of an SMS and also call the driver via the app. Nevertheless, hailing a cab will not occur via WhatsApp. Also, the report mentions an undisclosed source that Ola will send invoices and one-time passwords to the customers through WhatsApp. Additionally, OYO is supposed to initiate sending invoices and confirmations of bookings on WhatsApp.
The sources have also cited that at least some private airline firms are in talks with WhatsApp to facilitate sharing of boarding passes and air tickets via WhatsApp; however, the names stay unidentified for now.
For now, all we can do is wait until the details are officially announced by the companies.
