Google has built an app named “Imagine” so as to help anyone needing medical assistance within a 500m radius. There is a GPS Directory developed by the CMC Group to provide the registered users an option of searching the nearby services as well as provide additional safety feature.
The app is currently free for all the iOS and Android users. The new technology also helps locate the nearest non-vegetarian mess, hospital, gourmet store, petrol pump, Italian restaurant, Tasmac liquor outlet, and autorickshaw stand. The app has been designed keeping Justdial and SOS apps in mind. The locations present nearby are not shown based on the advertisements. A safety button option is built in the app that can be activated by pressing the red button. It is similar to that seen in Ola or Uber apps. There is a choice of adding around three emergency contacts for the registered users. The moment the button is pressed a message or phone call is automatically sent to the registered contacts.
What in case if the registered numbers are unreachable? Then the app sends an alert to the other users within the 500m radius so as to help the one in need. The app thus assures that there will always be someone for lending a helping hand nearby. Even the police station nearby are sent the SOS message. The app can be easily downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store and it currently has the data only available for the people in Chennai, Kerala, and Coimbatore. The feed in data will soon help the entire country use the app to hunt the services or places.
The people visiting or already present in Kerala and Tamil Nadu can benefit a lot from the app. The app lets the users who are not a resident of the city know the nearby medical shops, hospitals, doctors, and food restaurants. The accident or assault victims can get help easily via the app.
Thus, the app can help save a lot of lives in cases of emergency. For now, all that we can do is wait till the app is uncovered in the other states of the country as well.
