Facebook Inc. is in limelight as well as in talks about producing TV-quality and scripted shows with Hollywood studios with an intention of rolling out innovative programming by late summer, the Wall Street Journal claimed this week.
The social networking major has pointed out that it was ready to hand over itself to production budgets as lofty as $3 Million each episode. This information too was reported by the Journal mentioning individuals familiar with the matter in meetings with Hollywood talent agencies.
Facebook is hopeful that it will target audiences within age group 13–34, particularly focusing on people within age group 17–30. The firm has already lined up a relationship drama—Strangers, and a game show—Last State Standing, the report claimed.
Facebook cannot be instantaneously reached out for comment.
The firm is likely to roll out episodes in a conventional manner, instead of introducing a whole season at one fell swoop similar to that of Amazon.com Inc. and Netflix Inc, Wall Street Journal claimed.
The firm is also keen to share its viewership information with Hollywood, the report added further.
Apple Inc. employed Sony Pictures Television co-presidents, Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, previously this month, to head its video-programming shows.
Apart from this, Facebook recently partnered with Microsoft along with Twitter and YouTube and formed an anti-terrorist group that is targeted at spreading awareness about extremist online content. Each of the participated company has been operating individually from avoiding its platform for being employed as a source of promoting extremist online content. All of these tech giants believe in working together. They think that working together might help them in achieving their goal of thwarting extremist online content. They also believe that by working together they can bring in different innovative ideas together.
