Idea Cellular, one of the popular telecom operators in India, this week said that with the newest introduction of 4G network in Mumbai, it has turned out to be pan-India broadband services provider on smartphones.
“With the roll out of 4G LTE services in Mumbai, Idea announces pan-India broadband operations of mobile in shortest feasible time span,” Idea claimed in a statement. Idea, in 20 circles, apart from Delhi and Kolkata where it offers mobile broadband services on 3G system, has 4G spectrum. Idea’s services of mobile broadband are now accessible to almost 525 Million citizens of Indian wrapping near 100,000 villages and 6,000 towns on 4G and 3G network pan India, the statement claimed. “The firm with the targeted last 18 months’ deal in wireless broadband services is up-and-coming to turn out to be a chief player in mobile data with its pan-India existence,” said Rajat Mukarji, Corporate Affairs, Idea Cellular Chief.
The firm has spent Rs 7,800 Crore on networks in 2016–2017 and additionally plans to invest Rs 6,000 Crore in the ongoing fiscal year. “During 2017, Idea has planned to extend its 4G, 3G, and 2G services to over 300,000 sites on 4G (LTE), 3G (HSPA), or 2G (GSM) services carrying on the development of momentum. The firm is changing itself from being an unadulterated mobility voice contender to a tough operator of mobile broadband,” the statement claimed. At the roll out in Mumbai, Idea stated that it has updated nearly 1,600 of its current 3,500 sites of telecom with 4G network, and work is in full swing to update more 1,000 sites by end of the rainy season. The firm will provide 10 GB of 4G data free of cost to all its 4.4 Million current Idea users, both on postpaid and prepaid services as well as to new users who connect at the time of the offer period of 90 days initiating from May 25, 2017 and ending on August 22, 2017.
“In addition to this, the users updating to 4G SIM will get an additional 4GB of 4G data for a validity of 14 days. Both these offers will be accessible at the same time,” the statement made clear.
