Yahoo, one of the biggest tech giants, has alerted its users that it has discovered another major cyberattack. The information from more than 1 Billion accounts was hacked back in August 2013. This made a history of the largest hacking.
The number of hacked accounts was twice the number of accounts hacked in 2014. The firm revealed this information in September and made the hackers responsible for this. According to the company, the hacker worked for the government. This news had a huge impact on the business. As soon as the news was revealed, Verizon Communication Inc. immediately decided to withdraw itself from a contract with Yahoo. This would cause a loss of $4.83 Billion to the company. According to the report, more than 500 Million accounts were hacked.
The sources also revealed that Yahoo has been in contact with Verizon during its inquiry about the breach and that it is sure enough that the occasion will not impact the current users.
Yahoo alerted all of its users to reconfigure their passwords—a great measure than it took after the last hack was revealed, when it only suggested a password reconfiguration.
Will this affect the future of Yahoo? Well according to current situation, it seems that the future of this company is in danger. The company did a huge mistake by taking time to reveal the news. Let us hope that Yahoo will soon overcome all the hacking crises. Are you a Yahoo user? If yes, be careful as your account may also be compromised. Don’t save any important data on your Yahoo account as of now.
