Ajinkya Rahane and Murli Vijay are probably the most consistent batsmen that India has witnessed in past few years. Even though Kohli and Pujara have managed to make a 2–0 lead in the test series against England, the performance of Rahane and Vijay is somewhat a matter of concern. Both the players have failed consistently since the day one of this series. For the upcoming 4th test, these two player’s performances will play a crucial role in the win of either of the teams.
Due to the phenomenal batting of the Kohli–Pujara duo, we might have been missed the seriousness of this situation. Hats off to this duo who keeps on playing well and giving outstanding performance that resulted India in a lead position in the series. Although Rahane is having a hard time in this test series, we cannot forget his past performance. His sensational 188 against New Zealand in October last year was a knock-out performance. But this time, Rahane is having issue facing the England spinners. Stats says that Rahane have been dismissed thrice out of five times in this series by a spinner.
Nothing is different with the Chennai lad, Murli Vijay. He is having a hard luck knocking off the England pacers. Murli Vijay has not performed since he saved India by his century in the first test at Rajkot, the test that was drawn.
We are sure that Rahane and Vijay are trying their best. But at the end, it’s the result that matters, not the hard work.
