Gawker, a news website, has settled a lawsuit of Hulk Hogan—a popular wrestler in the US—for $31 M. This case compelled Gawker to declare his bankruptcy when the jury offered Hulk the amount of $140 M in case of leaked sex tape.
Tech giant Peter Thiel paid Hulk’s legal bill during the whole case. Further he said that, in 2007, Gawker created fake stories about him and he is now trying to settle the matter against Gawker by helping Hulk.
Gawker was first started in 2000 and was famous for aggressive celebrity coverage. In August, Gawker shut its operations down due to bankruptcy. Its other sites including Polygon, Deadspin, and Jezebel were purchased by Univision and are still operating.
