Delhi: There is no reality in the talk that the radiations from the mobile towers & handsets cause adverse effect on living creatures or human, said government in Lok Sabha in a meeting conducted this Wednesday.
Ravi Kumar Prasad, the Telecom Minister wondered that why such debates are taking round in India actively. He said, “Yeh vishey kyun Hindustan mein hee uthte hain” (Why such issues are raised in India?).
In the Question Hour, Prasad said, “All countries from Korea to USA are using these mobile towers abundantly. The Scientific evidences have not been provided yet. After 20 year of deep studies, the WHO (World Health Organization) has itself revealed that there are no threats to health due to these mobile towers or handsets.
Prasad answered this question when asked by Ranjeet Ranjan, a Congress leader and Rama Devi, a BJP member. Rama Devi wishes to know that whether any scientific research has taken place around the world or in India to check out the consequences of mobile tower radiations. She also said, “It has been seen that the birds do not move around these mobile towers and also do not lay eggs near them.”
RS Prasad responded, “A scientific study done by team of experts delegated by Allahabad High Court has rectified that there are no adverse effects on human health because of these mobile towers.”
He even said, “I take this opportunity to explain that most often people complain about call drops. If you want this not to happen then you must allow the mobile towers to get installed in your areas. He even added, “Let us be realistic. Can we do without a cell phone in modern day world?”
He told Sankar Prasad Datta, CPI-M member that over the last 2-years, Indian government has installed 24000 mobile towers throughout the country and will set up 20000 more towers to improve the connectivity.
