Wyclef Jean Running for President of Haiti…?

A few years ago, he sang a song named “If I Were President”; now, it seems that the idea may come to fruition. The National Post cited Canadian newspaper Le Droit broke a story that Wyclef Jean is planning on running for President of Haiti. The National Post states:

Citing “a source close to the government in Port-au-Prince, Le Droit reported that Mr. Jean is only waiting for paperwork to be finalized by next week’s deadline…[however] On Friday, Mr. Jean rang the opening bell at New York’s Nasdaq stock exchange, not long after posting an online message: “Just to clear up the rumors I have not announced to the press that I’m running for President of Haiti.

Other sources have, however, reported that Jean has already submitted the paperwork. However, it seems that the final say comes from the statement released by his family:

At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately.

This will definitely be interesting to watch to see if he announces that he is actually running!
