“1 Thing” singer Amerie has officially changed the spelling of her name to Ameriie – that’s right; it’s not a typo. Although she announced the change last month to a handful of people, she’d held off going public until her new Twitter page was fully set up. According to Ameriie’s publicity releases, she added the extra ‘i’ to her name to project more positivity.

Ameriie is currently in the studio working on a follow-up album to last year’s “In Love & War” titled “Cymatika Volume 1″, which, according to rap-up.com, is “named after the study of visible sound and vibration”.

Ameriie says, “I’m still in the studio right now, so the best thing I can say is it’s a very international, worldly sound.”

Ameriie has also become engaged to her longtime manager Lenny Nicholson. The couple is planning to wed in 2011.
