Spain’s soccer team, the Furia Roja (Red Fury) won its first ever FIFA World Cup Tournament, beating Netherlands 1-2 in extra time at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg. Spain’s Andres Iniesta scored the only goal of the game in the 116th minute of the game.

Spain, European Champion two years ago, holds a double European/World championship that has only been won in that order once before by Germany in 1972/1974.

The Netherlands has made it into the final game on two other occasions, in 1974 and 1978 but has yet been unsuccessful in their quest to be world cup champion.
