America Wins Big Jeter - Carmelita Jeter of the United States won the Women’s 100m at the IAAF Samsung Diamond League Athletissima meeting at the Olympic stadium today, July 8, 2010 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Carmelita won the event last year with a record a time of 10.64 seconds, the second fastest woman time.
Right behind Florence Griffith-Joyner’s 10.49. She was confident earlier in the week that she would wall away a winner again this year and looks like that confidence stood up. I hate it when you are confident and walk away with your head down. Nothing looks worse than a person who says they will win and don’t. But, in this case all her talk paid off and her legs took off bringing her right in front of Sherone Simpson with a time of 10.99 and Simpson coming in at 11.15. Still both times is faster than my running or typing. Congrats Carmelita and we look forward to seeing more from you.
