Once again the Baltimore native Mario Dewar Barrett has blessed us with a new album D.N.A released October 13, 2009, his previous album Go was released in 2007. The debut single “Break Up” was released April 28, 2009 featuring Sean Garret and Gucci Mane. The song has peaked number 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. This single has been Mario’s most successful single. The second single released and number 2 on the album “Thinkin’ About You” had its world premiere on BET’s “106 & Park”. You can listen to both of these hot new releases on QWTJ LIVE INTERNET RADIO, playing the hits you want to hear. I know what you are thinking “how was his CD?” all I got to say is I cried on a few of the songs, he really touch my heart. Especially since I can feel where he’s coming from on most of the songs. From heartache, to missing someone and wishing they were right there with you. D.N.A has a mixture of songs some fast and upbeat which I think does not fit the young artist Mario, such as “Starlight” but “Break Up” the first song on the album and the debut single on D.N.A is a bangin’ decent up tempo song.

Mario has a very distinct voice that can be noticed anywhere, he has a higher range of voice that is fitting for slow, serine and sexy music. There are a few songs that really grabbed a hold to my heart almost as though I could feel his emotion through the lyrics and the melody. “Stranded“, OH I felt that he told the truth to what had happen to him, showing his softer side. Simply put, he “made the mistake of my life/I ran away from the closest thing to me/ Girl, I’m stranded.” Other must hears from the album would have to be “Break Up” (debut single), I Choose You, Don’t Walk Away, I Miss My Friend, and The Hardest Moment all of these songs are touching, heartfelt and matches Mario’s style and voice.

Mario has grown up to be a decent young man in his singing career and his life. Pouring out his true feelings into his music is something that I as a listener respect, telling things as they are and not what it should have been. Mario seems like a humble young man explaining in his lyrics the tragedies that take place in relationships, showing that relationships are not one sided, the other has feelings as well. Mario has no problem in admitting his wrongs like in the song Don’t Walk Away, “Yes I hurt you, I know/ Yeah I made my mistakes/Next time I won’t let pride in the way/ I will stand by your side and I’ll stand till its right/ Just don’t walk away” but it seems like it is too late to say when she is already in the process of leaving but you just got to love this potential hit.

Now the last song of the album, “The Hardest Moment” really stresses the theme of Mario’s album about how he misses “the one” that left him because he made the mistake of letting his ego and pride get in the way of really loving her. Mario states on the last song of the album, “The Hardest Moment” that leaving and go separate ways parting with a kiss, while a tear falls from his eyes onto her lips is the hardest moment.

Mario is “A man that ain’t afraid to cry/ A man that ain’t afraid to cry is a man that ain’t afraid to die.” WOW, is all I can say to D.N.A.

Please go and get this album today because you have to hear what I’m feeling when I say his music is quite touching and true and the hardest moment for you will be trying not to push replay on every song.

DJ Tiffiny J’s Ratings: $ (worse)- $$$$$ (Best)

Overall: $$$$$- Go and get this CD. AMAZING, enuff said.

Favorite Track: The best tracks on the CD in my opinion would have to be “Stranded” and “The Hardest Moment” both felt like Mario was singing about what he has experienced.

Dislike: I did not too much care for “Starlight” the beat and the pace of the song with Mario singing didn’t really move me much.

Buy or Burn: Go out and buy this one it is worth it.
