Mrs. Carey’s latest album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” was released on September 29, 2009. The debut single from the album is “Obsessed” which you can hear in rotation on QWTJ LIVE Internet Radio. The track has a very upbeat tempo that carries the atmosphere of attitude and disgust. The song discusses how someone is so obsessed with her that they go to the point of “Lying that you’re sexing me/ When everybody knows/it’s clear that you’re upset with me.” Supposedly the song is directed to the male rap artist Eminem, who had alleged that he and Carey were one-time lovers. The album as a whole flows into Mariah’s form and style of music, having the set theme of relationships, break-ups, falling in love, and the pains and hurts of love. Track seventeen “I Want to Know What Love Is,” also her second single and the remake of the song by the rock band Foreigner, is a real heartfelt song, expressing how it is time to really feel how love feels. Through all the heartache and pain in life and relationships Mrs. Carey musically demonstrates that the search for real love does not stop and that she “Can’t stop now, I’ve traveled so far to change this lonely life.” Mrs. Carey always has the ability to make low-life guys, feel a woman’s power especially in her song “Up Out My Face”, I found the lyrics quite humorist. When a woman breaks, she doesn’t just crack she shatters, Carey explains she will not be standing and moping around with her head down but she will be packing bags boarding the next “BBJ and pull the shades down/ on the plane now/ and don’t keep calling from your mama’s house” BOOM to the left, to the left. She said it all; with that attitude, she isn’t going to be the one crying, dying begging to put things back together. The album is full of women empowerment with her skillful use of lyrics. There are a few reprises to some songs (The Impossible and Up Out My Face) that are interesting but the album could have done without them adding other songs instead. Overall, the album was a great success and I really enjoyed most tracks and would refer anyone that enjoys Mariah Carey to buy and listen to this album. In comparison to her other CD’s this one sound similar to them but has awesome lyrics that flow and makes one think. As stated before, Mariah has the tendency to sing about relationships and love and its rollercoaster of a ride. But hey this is a part of everyone’s life, somewhere down the line we all go through everything she sings about in her songs. We are not perfect but we strive in life to be the best and find love that everyone wishes they can have and embody. This is definitely one CD that you must have if you ever had to deal with the struggles in relationships or if just love good R&B music.

DJ Tiffiny J’s Ratings: $ (worse)- $$$$$ (Best)

Overall: $$$$- This one will be going on my shelf

Favorite Track: The best track of the CD in my opinion would have to be “The Impossible” with its slow, sexy, smooth and sultry melody and lyrics

Could Have Skipped it: Song that could have not been on the CD would maybe be the reprise of “Up Out My Face” it was cool with the marching band and the chants of main chorus but was not enough to be added as a track

Buy or Burn: Go out and buy this one it is worth it.
